Mate is a herb that is used to make the drink Yerba Mate from Argentina. Commonly steeped at a ratio of 1:2 Mate and hot water, it is drunk from a gourd through a straw with a sieve on the end. All that aside, you can drink this just as you would any other herbal tea and has a unique, strong flavour, reminiscent of hay with a nutty taste. Brew this either on its own or add sugar. Grown in Germany Mate has traces of caffeine.
