Iron Goddess Oolong
Description
Ti Kuan Yin or Iron Goddess of Mercy Oolong is a delicate tea with a floral aroma and smooth orchid like flavour. Grown in the Fujian province of China, this oolong comes with its own story.
Legend has it that a tea grower would walk past a delapidated temple dedicated to Kuan Yin, the goddess of mercy, on that way to work. Not wanting to see the temple fall into a greater state of decay he bagan to tend to it, cleaning it and burning insence at the feet of the iron staue of Kuan Yin inside. One night, he had a dream that the goddess had told him of a great treasure in a cave at the back of the temple. When he looked there the next day, he found a single tea shoot which he nurtured and cultivated. He named the tea after the goddess Ti Kuan Yin, The Iron Goddess of Mercy.
